WASTED Neighbors
What is a WASTED Laboratory without Neighbors? Nothing! Neighbors are local residents living in our area of operation in Amsterdam Noord. As Neighbors, these local citizens participate in our collection system and collaborate with our Friends to generate local benefits through the Reward System.
How do Neighbors help? They provide plastic that fuels production of new, recycled and reprocessed stuff like park benches for the community. And they spend Coins in our WASTED Reward System – boosting social, economic and environmental benefit in the neighborhood. In other words, Neighbors get WASTED.
Getting WASTED means supporting local plastic waste recycling and upcycling. What’s upcycling? It’s giving new and improved value to old, used, wasted goods.

After signing up, you’ll receive a Start-up Kit with everything you need to start collecting your plastic in WASTED trash bags. When bags are full, you can bring them to the collection depot during weekdays (see where we are), or we'll pick them up at your address with our WASTED cargo-bike.
Yes, we did mention a Reward System. Local businesses and cultural organizations (our WASTED Friends) offer deals and discounts in exchange for WASTED Coins. How do you get Coins? For each bag of plastic you give to the Laboratory, you receive points. We scan your bags, track your points and send coins to your home address. On top of economic rewards, your plastic also benefits local community and the environment. Recycling your plastic has never been so valuable.
